Tampa is the place to be!

That's right ... Tampa is the place to be! The Rays beat the Boston Red Sox and we're in the World Series Championship. This means the World Series is coming to Tampa Bay! You can definitely feel the excitement in the air that's for sure! Tampa is also hosting the 2009 XLIII Superbowl so that is also pretty exciting!

Let's Go Rays!!!! Wooohooo (cowbell shake, cowbell shake)

What a week...

Well, it has been a long and stressful week but we are trying to stay positive and hopeful. Our family is in need of extra prayers and well wishes for Chris' dad. Chris' uncle Butch came into town yesterday and Megan flies home for a visit this coming Tuesday. We're looking forward to some family time next week.

In other news, our beloved Rays are keeping us on our toes... For you non-baseball watchers, the Tampa Bay Rays are ONE game away from going to the World Series (yay!). Sadly we lost the game tonight against Boston in Fenway but they are headed back home. I guess they wanted to win the ALCS here at home ... a bigger party you know. Here are a few pictures from some of the games this season, Enjoy! Unfortunately, I'm "behind the scenes" taking the following pictures...

Does this make us boring?

This past weekend was fairly relaxing which was a nice change from our jam packed weekends. On Sunday, Chris decided to do some yard work/landscaping and I thought that was a perfect time to suggest new front plants, hehe. So, off to the Home Depot we went.

Chris wanted to re-do the landscaping around our mailbox soooo we ended up getting a new mailbox as well. Aaaaah, the joys of homeownership.

The yard looks great! Here are a few pictures of the new stuff...

Back to the Grind

The title of this post says it all ... I'm back to the grind of school. I really enjoyed my 3 week break, maybe too much and now it's really hard for me to get back into the swing of things. I'm taking 2 classes aka 6 credits: Measuring Human Resources and Organizational Consulting. After this semester I will have earned 24 credits ... aaaah, over 1/2 way finished with my Masters degree!

Please say a special prayer for Chris' dad this week as we have gotten more bad news about the progression of his Cancer. He has proven to be a fighter and I'm sure this is just a bump in the road but extra prayers and well wishes are always a good thing. We are so lucky that a cancer center such as Moffitt is so close (his Dad lives in Sarasota and we live in Lakeland) which gives us the ability to visit him almost every time he is admitted. Chris was able to make a visit today on his lunch break between work and class. As always we are trying to stay positive and hopeful. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

The Wheelmobile came to Florida!!

The surprise that I mentioned in my last post was the Wheel of Fortune Wheelmobile event that was this weekend at the Seminole Mall in Orlando! As many of you know, I have a love for Game Shows soooo, of course, I had to attend this. Here are a few pictures...

Standing in line to put in our applications for the WHEEL!
Goal: make it on 'that' side...
Oh yes ... my name was called!
THE Wheelmobile.

Wheel of Fortune fan.
So, very exciting news: my name was called! They took my picture, I went on stage with 4 others and played a mock round of Wheel of Fortune. You may be asking... what happens next or are you on the show? Basically what happens from now is the staff will review the video footage and select show contestants based on personality. I was pretty nervous but I tried to let my personality shine through. Another good thing is that the cameras were constantly scanning the audience where I continued to peppy and cheer on other contestants. (We were in the 2nd row and the people in front of me were sitting in chairs.) I won't know if I advance until November. From there they will have a 2nd audition which is where they will pick the actual contestants and back-ups for the show which will be filmed at Seaworld in December. Wish me luck!! I will keep you all posted.

After the Wheel of Fortune event we decided to walk around the mall. We came across the S&K Menswear store which is in the process of closing so they were having some great deals. We bought Chris a new suit for only $59 ... original price was $350!!

Well, it was a great weekend up until tonight ... both the Rays and the Bucs lost! Bummer!

That's all for now, it's bedtime! Thanks for reading...

Bitter sweet

So yesterday was great ... up until the USF game! The Tampa Bay Rays won their first playoff game (very exciting) but the night ended with a bitter sweet tone because our beloved Bulls lost to Pitt. We've determined that Thursday night games do not end well for ranked teams. Oh well, the next home game is October 18th which is USF's Homecoming against Syracuse. It should be a great game with lots of Bulls Fans!

We are excited for that game for many reasons ... 1. It's Homecoming!, 2. My cousins Tim and Tamra will be coming to Florida and going to the USF game with us (different seats), and 3. It's FALL!! I love when the weather gets a "crisp" feeling in the air - and it's here ... hopefully to stay.

We have a fun weekend planned. Tonight is GNO with the girls aka a night for Chris to watch uninterrupted baseball, Saturday we have a surprise event which I will blog about later, and Sunday we are going to a Rays/Bucs party at Briana and Dave's house. Busy weekend!

Have a happy and safe weekend! Until next time ...

"Just Because"

Awww, Chris brought me flowers tonight! I love when he brings me "just because" surprises!! He picked out a gorgeous array of Fall flowers and they look great in the foyer. He has great timing since I plan on putting out the Fall decorations this weekend.
